LET'S START WITH OER...
In 2018, our company made a commitment to CSforALL. We called that commitment OpenCS1. These efforts reflected our commitment.
"We want to foster collaboration and supplement instructor curriculum with open educational resources (OER)."
- We built these resources to help instructors more easily adopt an open textbook. Each unit of content that our curriculum team composed listed relevant readings from highly adopted free textbooks.
- Eight units of course materials were made available in Python, Java, and C++.
- These were validated, language-independent assessments of CS1 knowledge, based on CS1 syllabi and the SCS1.
We use the past tense to talk about this commitment because it was completed and released in totality in the fall of 2018. Although it's still accessible, we are no longer creating and releasing additional material.
NOW PRE-LOADED CONTENT...

Instructors who are considering Mimir Classroom to deliver their curriculum to students no longer have to upload their own coursework in order to see how the platform works. We are empowering instructors to explore Mimir Classroom with pre-loaded content we added to the platform.
- Pre-loaded content has been mirrored from OpenCS1 materials. OpenCS1 materials were not designed with autograding principles, so much of the pre-loaded content on Mimir Classroom doesn't show off the entirety of autograding functionality.
- This material's intent is to aid instructors in onboarding and further their understanding of Mimir Classroom.
- Once an instructor onboards, this pre-loaded course content may be supplemented with other course content and is not intended to replace all coursework.
